“Unsettled Spirits”: Where Indigenous Wisdom Transforms Ghost Hunting

For over 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of investigating the paranormal alongside my friend Amanda Quill as part of her Coldspotters paranormal group. We’ve explored some delightfully creepy places where we’ve recorded disembodied voices and footsteps in the dark, felt unexplainable cold spots, and witnessed apparitions.

That’s why I am beyond thrilled to share some incredible news about Amanda’s latest venture into the supernatural!

Mark your calendars for September 2, 2026, when Amanda’s new docuseries, Unsettled Spirits, premiers on APTN!

What Makes “Unsettled Spirits” a Must-Watch?

Unsettled Spirits isn’t your average ghost show with jump scares and dark hallways. Produced by Wapanatahk Media—a Vancouver-based, Indigenous female-led production company—this 13-episode series explores real-life hauntings in British Columbia through an Indigenous lens.

The show follows two lead investigators and their separate teams:

  • Amanda Quill (Cree): Decades-long investigator, respected voice in the supernatural community, survivor of the Sixties Scoop, and lead investigator who brings her son Nathan Thompson (Tech Lead) and apprentice Kayla Black into the field.

  • Jesi Whitton (Cree): A clairsentient practitioner, mother, and Kokom from the Louis Bull Tribe in Alberta, joined by Tech Lead Brandon Belong and Medicine Woman Aiyesha Fraser.

Together, these two teams take on everything from cursed cafés and historic haunted mansions to active poltergeists and shadowy entities. What makes their approach so unique and compelling is how they blend cutting-edge investigative technology with traditional Indigenous knowledge, ancestral wisdom, and storytelling.

Instead of just trying to provoke or capture a spooky image, the mission behind Unsettled Spirits is connection, respect, and helping both the living and the spirits find peace and healing.

Deep Roots & Powerful Stories

As series producer and director Mike Gosselin (Métis) puts it:

At its heart, the series is about helping both spirits and the people affected by them find peace and healing … When we open ourselves to communicating with spirits, we can better understand their stories and help them continue their journey to the Spirit World.”

Having worked closely with Amanda for over a decade and a half in Coldspotters, I know firsthand the level of respect, genuineness, and dedication she brings to every case. Her personal journey and ancestral connection make her work on this show deeply personal and moving.
